The Mazda CX-3 is a major player in the subcompact crossover SUV segment. With a large customer base, it has managed to stay relevant in the industry ever since its inception in 2016. The Mazda CX-3 is best known for its premium fit-and-finish interiors coupled with a potent powertrain that also offers impressive fuel economy. That said, there are a lot of competitors to the CX-3 in this segment, one of them being the Kia Soul. Let’s have a look at what makes the 2021 Mazda CX-3 stand out from the 2021 Kia Soul.
For the 2021 model year, the Mazda CX-3 is a carryover of the previous model year version. 2021 will be the last model year for the Mazda CX-3 as Mazda introduced the Mazda CX-30 recently to carry the bastion for the brand in this segment. The 2021 Mazda CX-3 is more powerful than the 2021 Kia Soul with a power output of 148 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque. This gives it an edge when it comes to performance. The CX-3 comes fitted with a six-speed shiftable automatic transmission which is a lot more effective compared to the rather dull continuously variable transmission (CVT) of the Kia Soul. As far as fuel efficiency is concerned, both the vehicles are on par.
The Kia Soul takes a slight advantage in the cargo space department with a 24.2 cubic feet cargo area compared to the 17.8 cubic feet cargo area of the Mazda CX-3. But other than that, the Mazda CX-3 excels in the quality department thanks to high quality materials used all around. The Mazda CX-3 is equipped with a standard seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system that can also be controlled with a rotary-knob controller placed on the center knob.
The Mazda CX-3 also excels in the safety department with a lot more standard features offered compared to the Kia Soul. All trims come with Blind Spot Monitoring System, Auto-leveling Headlights, Lane Departure Warning System, and a Cross-Traffic Alert System.
