The Mazda CX-9 has been reigning in the mid-size SUV market since 2006 and has evolved throughout its existence. Known for its premium fit-and-finish paired with Mazda’s precision-engineered powertrains, the Mazda CX-9 satisfies your palette. But just like any other sector within the SUV segment, the mid-size SUV market has a lot of players vying to capture the top spot, and the Honda Passport is one of them. Let’s have a look at what distinguishes the Mazda CX-9 from the Honda Passport.
Currently, in its second generation, the 2021 Mazda CX-9 receives a considerable number of changes and updates. To begin with, the CX-9’s infotainment system has been updated and now comes fitted with a 10.3-inch display with an updated interface as well. Along with that, a wireless smartphone charging pad has been made standard on the Touring, Grand Touring, and Signature trims. Elsewhere, a new Carbon Edition Package has been made available for the Grand Touring trim that adds black exterior trim, black 20-inch alloy wheels, blacked-out grille, and red leather-upholstered seats. The top-of-the-line Signature trim now comes with additional standard features such as a rear automated emergency braking system, a driver-attention monitoring system, quilted leather upholstery, and updated grille and wheel designs.

However, the Mazda CX-9 produces more torque than the Honda Passport, with an output of 310 pound-feet of torque compared to the 262 pound-feet of torque output of the Honda Passport. Coming to the interiors, the Mazda CX-9 offers three-row seating compared to the two-row seating of the Honda Passport. This might cut down the CX-9’s cargo space.
